In line with Corvinus’ renewed strategy, two new senior positions have been created to represent transversally the strategic priorities of sustainability and artificial intelligence (AI) in the University.
Bruno van Pottelsberghe stresses that a focus on sustainable thinking is the most critical and inevitable element for the future of business education, and in addition Corvinus must be at the forefront in addressing the pros and cons of AI and in exploiting the opportunities offered by new technologies, including their effective application in education.
The two positions are subject to an international call for applications. Until the successful outcome of the tender, the Rector appointed two Corvinus experts, recognised representatives of the two fields, to set up the areas of expertise and develop their operational framework.
Katalin Ásványi, Dean of the Faculty of Sustainability Management and Environmental Economics and Associate Professor, has been a leading figure in the dissemination of the sustainability approach at the university in recent years. As Chair of the ERS Hub Steering Committee, she has played a key role in developing the university’s renewed sustainability strategy. From 2024 she chairs the Central and Eastern European chapter of the UN-sponsored sustainability initiative PRME, and last year she received several international educational awards for his sustainability courses.
Csaba Csáki Dean of Artificial Intelligence is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Data Analytics and Information Systems. During his long career – which he had started writing programs using punched cards – Csaba has worked both in industry and academia. His main area of interest is Business Information Systems including Decision Support Systems, Business Intelligence, and of course various applications of Artificial Intelligence solutions. In 2023 he was appointed by the Vice Rector for Education to form an AI Committee tasked to investigate the impact of Generative AI in education and the group has developed several recommendations for the leadership of Corvinus as well as guidelines for staff and students. Since 2024 January he is the Head of the AI Integration Centre and his team has organised regular AI trainings for both students and staff among others.
