UNICA Secretary General visits Corvinus University to discuss strengthening collaboration

The Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe (UNICA) connects 53 leading universities from 40 European capitals, fostering academic collaboration and knowledge sharing across all university functions.

On September 18, 2024, Corvinus University of Budapest welcomed a brief but impactful visit from Prof. Luciano Saso, Secretary General of UNICA, the Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe. During his visit, Prof. Saso met with Prof. Dr. Zoltán Oszkár Szántó, Vice-Rector for Research at Corvinus, to explore opportunities for deepening collaboration between the university and the UNICA network. Prof. Szántó reaffirmed Corvinus’ interest in becoming an active participant in UNICA’s initiatives. Following the meeting, Prof. Bruno van Pottelsberghe, President-Rector of Corvinus, confirmed the university’s intention to join UNICA and initiated the first steps toward membership.  

UNICA connects 53 leading universities from 40 European capitals, fostering academic collaboration and knowledge sharing across all university functions. From university leadership and research governance to student services and stakeholder engagement, UNICA provides a platform for the exchange of ideas, best practices, and innovation among Europe’s top institutions. Member universities play key roles in the social, cultural, and economic development of their cities and countries. 

Initial steps towards collaboration were taken earlier this year when Orsolya Lugmayer, Corvinus University’s Liaison Officer, introduced the university at the UNICA Days in Brussels in February 2024.The recent meeting at Corvinus was coordinated by Judit Fekete, Head of ERGO. 

Corvinus University looks forward to contributing to and benefiting from this dynamic academic and research community as it strengthens ties with the UNICA network.
