University Research Scholarship Programme – Changes in the tendering system

As previously announced, starting from the 2024/2025 application period, the National Research, Development and Innovation Office’s New National Excellence Programme (in Hungarian ÚNKP) and Cooperative Doctoral Programme (in Hungarian KDP) will be closed and replaced by the University Research Fellowship Programme (in Hungarian EKÖP) established by the Government. 

Within the framework of the new National Excellence Scholarship Programme, the following categories are open for applications starting on 1 September 2024: 

– Undergraduate studies (5 or 10 months, net 125.000 HUF / month scholarship) 

– Master’s programme (5 or 10 months, net 175.000 HUF / month scholarship) 

– doctoral studies (5 or 12 months, net 250.000 HUF / month) 

– young teachers, researchers (12 months, net 250.000 HUF / month). 

The final deadline for EKÖP applications is 7 July 2024.

Within the framework of the EKÖP-KDP call for applications, starting on 01 September 2024, you can apply for a net grant of 400,000 HUF / month for the following periods: 

• 24 months (1 September 2024 – 31 August 2026)  
• 31 months (1 September 2024 – 31 March 2027)  
• 36 months (1 September 2024 – 31 August 2027)  
• 43 months (1 September 2024 – 31 March 2028)  
• 48 months (1 September 2024 – 31 August 2028) 

The final deadline for the submission of EKÖP-KDP applications is 14 July 2024.
