Why is it worthwhile for business executives to continue their studies? This is what the Corvinus Executive MBA is about in 2024

Portfolio, the leading Hungarian business news site published an interview with Andrea Toarniczky, study programme leader of the Corvinus Executive MBA programme, and with one of the mentors of the programme, Zoltán Lajtos.
Budapesti Corvinus Egyetem

The MBA (Master of Business Administration) programmes continue to be the stars of the education market, with Hungarian players also performing well in the face of strong international competition. The first MBA programmes were launched at Corvinus University of Budapest 25 years ago, primarily targeting middle and senior managers wishing to improve their business vision, management and strategic thinking, in addition to building their careers.

Andrea Toarniczky pointed out, among other things, that they offer personalised leadership development in groups of 5-6 people, which is quite rare in the market because it requires a lot of resources. The full groups start with 30-38 students, which can be diverse enough to maximise the networking opportunities and to allow different industries to be represented and international students to participate in the programme. Corvinus responds to students’ requirements in a flexible way. Change management, for example, is taught as a core subject in all four semesters, with different approaches, such as the M&A (mergers and acquisitions) situation.

Zoltán Lajtos drew attention to the fact that the practice-oriented nature of the programme can be efficiently transferred to the business scene, company management and career building.  The MBA programmes significantly differ from company training courses, and offer much more: in the MBA programmes, participants do not meet within an organisation, but discuss issues across industries and countries. It encourages strategic and complex problem-solving thinking and motivates students to think broadly. Therefore, business executives or middle managers can benefit from the knowledge gained here at any stage of their career.
