Our master students György Gáspár, Bálint Hábenczius, Eszter Nagypál and Péter Zombori and their mentor Balázs Fejes represented our university at the Uni Münster Case Club – UMCC organized by the University of Münster between 22nd -27th October 2024.
The team’s first task centered around Agravis, a German agricultural firm grappling with structural shifts and sustainability challenges. Corvinus’ solution, which tackled sustainability and market adaptation, earned them top recognition in their division. In the second case, the focus shifted to PwC, specifically on the use of AI for risk management in the automotive sector. Their strategic AI integration approach was ranked second in the division. The third case, a 12-hour challenge with Acture (a corporate employee wellness company), tasked the team with crafting growth and branding strategies, earning another second-place ranking in their division.
For all three of our presentations the jury highlighted our presentation style, coherent and balanced communication and well-designed, illustrative slides as the key strengths of our performance.
– Bálint Hábenczius
Reflecting on the competition, the team highlighted the importance of balancing actionable solutions with creativity. Preparation was extensive, involving four practice cases and workshops that strengthened team cohesion and honed their skills. Team members also noted how their collaborative dynamic – balancing analytical, strategic, and presentational roles – was instrumental to their performance.
The team dynamics were very good, I usually started the presentation, Eszti did the analysis, the guys did the strategy and implementation, and I closed with the feasibility.
– György Gáspár
Péter Zombori, who has represented our university in numerous competitions, shared his thoughts on the experience of competing as follows:
On top of it all, making these memories in the beautiful Münster was truly the icing on the cake. We had the opportunity to explore the city guided by the organizers, taste the local cuisine, gain insights into university life during a campus tour, and even present our case solutions in a palace.
– Péter Zombori
The team will remember the experience not just for the competition but for the connections formed with peers from around the world, including teams from the Dominican Republic and Mexico. For future case competitors, they advise embracing every challenge, as these competitions refine not only analytical skills but also offer lifelong benefits in critical thinking and networking.
I couldn’t recommend participating in case competitions enough, it is an experience of a lifetime. I think the Case Track at Corvinus, and CCTC as the student organization behind it, can provide the perfect preparation for any student, whether they are doing their Bachelors or Masters. Thanks to their courses, workshops, corporate events, and many other opportunities, I have improved both professionally and personally immensely, something I couldn’t have achieved any other way.
– Péter Zombori
We would like to congratulate the team and their mentor and thank the CIBS course instructors and seniors of the Corvinus Case Track Community, especially Balázs Fejes, for their contributions to the team’s preparations.
