The dean responsible for bachelor’s programs at Corvinus introduced readers of Index.hu, one of the most popular news site in Hungary to the bachelor’s degrees available at the university and explained why Corvinus is a great choice after high school.

In the interview published last Friday, the Dean highlighted that Corvinus offers various business-oriented degrees, with 12% of its faculty being international, and companies are actively involved in many areas of the programs. He emphasized that bachelor’s degrees at Corvinus are designed to be more general in the initial years, giving students time to make informed career decisions while offering a wide range of specializations—a breadth not commonly found elsewhere. For instance, the Business and Management program offers nearly twenty specializations, ensuring that every student finds something suitable and engaging.

Richárd Szántó also touched on the advantages of the Corvinus Scholarship compared to state-funded scholarships (with no geographical job restrictions), noting that more than three-quarters of students receive it. He discussed the importance of developing students’ skills—where the International Business program excels—and outlined the university’s increasing internationalization efforts (e.g., nearly all bachelor’s programs are available in English), and the multifaceted support provided through education development.

Key quotes from the interview:

“We shouldn’t force students to decide at 18 what narrow field they want to train in—whether they want to be marketers, foreign trade experts, or HR professionals. In the first one or two years, we provide a general foundational knowledge, and in the final semesters, students have the opportunity to specialize in diverse directions once they have an overview of the various fields.”

“The more international programs we have, the more prominent foreign professors we can attract to Corvinus, and we can also draw more international students. With an increasing number of programs available in English, we offer a highly appealing selection. For Hungarian students, we create an environment that feels like studying abroad.”

“[Compared to state-funded scholarships] our graduates can work wherever they wish, geographically—abroad or in Hungary.”

“Universities are often criticized for offering overly theoretical education that feels far removed from reality. At Corvinus, I believe we visibly refute this in practice.”

“We look for individuals who are truly motivated to achieve something and are willing to put effort into their university years. At Corvinus, we provide knowledge and skills that require active participation, collaborative thinking, and joint action.”
